X-Files: 10th Season?

I spoke to Chris Carter today, yes I spoke to God himself! I asked him about the appalling 9th season ending, and asked if there were going to be any one-off episodes in the future, building up to the 2012 invasion. Chris smiled, and said that hopefully (kneeling down and touching the wooden floor) if there were to be a 10th season, that I'd like where the direction of the show was going. It seems that Chris was very excited, and just needs the network's go-ahead for SEASON NUMBER 10!!!

He then gave 2 tickets to my friend (whom got his attention), this means tomorrow, I'm going down the red carpet with them!!! It was a surreal, yet an orgasmic experience, I think ejaculation is allowed.....

Terminator: Salvation (update)

So it's been a week, and Comic-Con has had a sneak peak, I'll upload the video as soon as I can, however there is a video conference. Also McG's blog on the official site (http://rss.warnerbros.com/terminatorsalvation/) reveals that he realises that this is no ordinary movie, and extra care not to upset hardcore fans must be taken. He has worked close with James Cameron, and was working with Stan Winston to make sure everything is within the Terminator lore. It is interesting that the trilogy before is being treated as a separate chapter, and this part is almost a separate box-set, and so can give fans a choice to completely ignore this movie, even though under free will you can ignore any of them, however it doesn't mean I'll have to update any box-sets.

McG's guidance counsellor - James Cameron

Anyway I feel re-assured by what was said at comic-con, and look forward to a longer trailer, and maybe even an illegally downloaded scene (lawl, just joking movie industry, I'm one of you).

However on another side, I cannot get excited by this film, however I think it might be worth streaming it ( just joking again ;-) ).

The question remains

1) Could McG actually direct something good?! Could hell freeze over?!?
The Man in Question - McG

2) Will it go beyond 'I'll download it with a side-dish of cyanide pills' to 'I might actually pay to see this'?

The fears I have are mainly whom is taking responsibility, he's going to really have to prove that he has it right, I've been scarred before *coughKingdomOfTheCrystalSkullcough*
Scum

Resident Evil: Degeneration

What do you get when you cross Resident Evil with 24?

You get Resident Evil: Degeneration of course!

When I first saw the teaser last year I felt that this movie had potrential, and now this traile rhas come out, i feel even more possively about it!

This film is a cannon film which bridges things between RE4 and RE5. It starts off in an airport, where Claire (with a small girl) find themselves trapped inside an airport after a bio-terrorist attack takes place, the terrorists have got hold of Umbrella's T (and possibly G) virus, and are planing to unleash it upon every populated city in America, starting off with this airport as a warning shot.
Leon S Kennedy and a bunch of other US troopers are sent in to take care of the mess, while uncovering a new conspiracy. Will Jack Bauer, er I mean Leon take out the terrorists and uncover the truth? Not without the help of Claire Redfield!

To be honest, this looks like the only decent Resident Evil film, and of course it has NOTHING to do with the previous films. It looks amazing!! Ok, Leon looks younger than he did in RE4, which is weird because this is a year AFTER RE4 and 3 years before RE5. This does seem a little bit like 24, but hey, I love 24, I love Resident Evil, and I love Zombie films! So first impressions are that this film could be a great one, and one I'm NOT going to miss. Paul Mercier and Alyson Court reprise their roles as Leona and Claire.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop

Yeah, so when E3 came it was a shock for Sony fanboys loosing the exclusivity of Final Fantasy to be ported (probably with reduced graphics?) to the 360. However 360 fanboys also got a shock at E3, not only from Sony's answer to Halo, which is a 250 multiplater online war game, but tthey also lost an exclusive title: Dead Rising!

Dead Rising is a game which is basically one big tribute to Dawn of the Dead. You are a news photographer trying to find the scoop of the century, eventually fining himslelf inside a shopping mall with litterally THOUSANDS of the undead.

Well it seems that Capcom are complete corperate whores, and have decided to break yet another exclusivity deal *coughresidentevil4cough* and port it to......

The Nintendo Wii
In-case you forgot what one looks like

So now 360 fanboys everywhere are angry that an "inferior" console is getting yet another
lost exclusive, yet they have gained a PS3 one? Is there no pleaseing these 360 fanboys?
A Typical 360 Fanboy

The Nintendo Wii version will use an 'advanced' version of RE4's engine, and is being built totally all over again.
The graphics look decent (well the do require more zombies on screen than in RE4, you are going to have to make a sacrifice somewhere, anyway D.R. on the 360 wasn’t amazing either), and the gameplay of RE4 Wii edition was very welcome. IMO it was great, if only to piss off 360 fanboys!

Anyway I can't wait to mush up some undead, I've been chopping up corpses at my local graveyard but it never feels the same unless they're coming at you wanting literally apiece of you :(

So despite the graphical limitations of the Wii (compared to the 360) I'm very much looking forward to swinging the Wiimote (maybe it will use the new Wiimote add-on to increase sensitivity?!) to lawnmower some undead to shreds. While Dead Rising 2 (Vegas?) is on it's way, who knows, it might be ported to the Wii too? Or maybe even the Playstaion 3!

Watchmen

Yes, I know I'm late, but it isn't exactly that anyone is reading this blog yet!

Anyway I loved the graphic novel, however I'm not such a large fan that I deserve to make this post, so I might even hand over this post to another person who can REALLY give it their full criticism, so I'm giving a small review....

Well what can I say? I'm looking forward to this film. the Trailer

is impressive, however I'm reserving my judgement until a later trailer, the film looks like it has potential to be great, but as Alan Moore said "I don't think Watchmen can me truly expressed in a film" which I totally agree. A film compresses all the depth, all the idoligy, the sheer expanse of a story, and compresses it into two hours of viewing pleasure. So what I recommend everyone who sees this movie to do is to read the novel first. This shouldn't be treated like an average comic book movie, this one is a one-off, it isn't like Spiderman in which you can pick characters and enemies and write your own universe to suit your creative vision. This is a single novel with visual guides. Lets just hope that Solid Snake (David Hayeter) has written it well. Only time can tell.

Solid Snake wrote the Watchmen Movie

PS: Malin Akerman as Laurie Juspeczyk / Silk Spectre II looks extremely hot...

Anyway a more detailed review will come later, all I can say for now is that I can't wait to see more!

Watch! Important

This video is made by one of my fav movie reviewers: Mr Black. he wont be reviewing on youtube for some while, as youtube is slowely destroying itself from the inside out....

Ghostbusters: The Videogame

Let me just tell you, I'm a Ghostbusters freak, not geek, not fanboy, but freak; I LOVE this franchise, from the movies to the animated series (The REAL Ghostbusters) I can find no fault. I'm such a freak that I built my own proton pack, complete with trap and jumpsuit. I'm still perfecting it....

For a few years I have been following the progress of Ghostbusters the Videogame.

My expreesion on finding out about Gostbusters: The Videogame

It's a direct sequel to Ghostbusters II. It starts two years after Ghostbusters 2, and this time the Ghostbusters have had no (major) lawsuits, they have a thriving business, but now they are looking for an extra pair of hands: You are those pair of hands. It looks like your old enemies are coming back to haunt you, could it be the fact that a GOZER exhibition is in town? Uh, huh? Yeah....

Anyway, this might as well be Ghostbusters 3: It's meant to be a sequel, and why can't it be in an interactive format, what better way than to be a GHOSTBUSTER YOUR SELF!? This interactive movie is written by Dan Ackroyd and Horrold Rammis, the two comedic geniuses’ who wrote and starred in the first two movies. Most of the major players, (Dan and Harrold, as well as Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson, alongside Annie Potts [Jannine]) are returning, with the exception of Sigourney Weaver and Rick "Honey I Shrunk" Moranis.

This game looks awesome, and the only complaints I have is about the PS2, Wii, PSP and DS versions...

While the PS3, 360 and PC versions are going to look amazing (not as amazing as MGS4 of course), the Wii, PS2 etc versions will take on a cartoony style. I could probably understand something like the DS getting that treatment, but treat the Wii and PS2 owners with some dignity, most people can't afford a PS3, and fuck getting it for 360 when you have a PC.
So give these people some dignity, and give them some decent PS2 visuals to remember....However I'm glad that (surprisingly) the 6th generation of consoles have a more multiplatyer online functionality, whereas the 7th gen consoles do not (except Wii), talk about working backward. However a quick patch should fix that little "problem"
The cartoony style of the 6th Gen Consoles (and the Wii)

I'm also disappointed that you only get to play a rookie, and not Peter, Ray, Winston or Egon, I would have loved to play those guys, and I'm quite saddened at this, ah well I can't wait to see more!

Looking at the gameplay side of things, I think it works well for a Ghostbusters game, especially after the shitty ones (see AVGN http://www.gametrailers.com/player/17324.html?type=flv) that were made in the 80's/90's). Best of all there is no HUD, everything is cleverly indicated on the proton pack, and your health is indicated by the amount of read that surrounds your screen (blood?!?), you can't die from a ghost attack, however you will loose consciousness.

Dispite a few things that I would change. I cannot FUCKING WAIT to get my hands on this game!!

Just Awsome

Final Fanasy VII: Remake or Sequel?

Apparently there have been rumour of a FINAL FANTASY VII remake on the horizon.

Ever since the 2005 Playstation 3 Technical demo at E3

May I remind everyone that this is a demo if the Playstation 3's technical capabilities. However, everyone knows that if you tease fans like that, you know that FFVII remake is going to be an ace card that you will pull in the not so distant future. In fact it may have been a way of "testing the water" for fan reaction. Of course: I'm a FFVII fan, and would LOVE to see this get remade, oh god would I!!! *joygasms* Anyway... There was apparently chatter around E3 from certain members of Square Enix that something "big" to do with Final Fantasy VII would be announced on August 1st (Japan)/August 2nd (America) on the date of the Blu-Ray HD edition of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (which may I add contains extra scenes).

The two things reviewers and fans alike have deducted, in which hints of both are out there.

1) Final Fantasy VII 2 - A sequel to Advent Children, this game would take Cloud and Co on a new
adventure and would end the series. This could be very likely, especially when they have just released Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for the PSP; which is a prequel RPG to Final Fantasy VII in which you play Zack (basically a game version of Final Fantasy VII: Last Order). This game has been very popular amongst fans (with PSPs) so far and looks to make millions. I for one will wait until the inevitable port in 8 months time to the Playstation 2. So that is one option I'm fairly comfortable with. Playing the final sequel to FFVII would be a relief that the saga has finally ended, however I hate the new game mechanics of the new Final Fantasy games. In-fact, I gave up half way through FFVIII's game due to the added gameplay, FFVII was a simple time, it was a good time. If they keep the old FFVII game mechanics; I'll be fine.

2) Final Fantasy VII REMAKE - This of course is the more favoured amongst fans. The things that I worry if/when the new square say that they are remaking FFVII is that they remake everything, including updating the game mechanics to the shitty FFXIII, yeah I said it was shitty, put that in your blunt and smoke it. They just need to do three things IMO: Update the visuals to match Advent Children (or close). Get rid of the Engrish (off course LOL), and finally have voice acting during the FMV sequences such as the ending sequence, oh actually finally I'd like to have the option of saving AFTER you complete the game so you can play again with your current magic and weapons etc, maybe throw in an alternate costume or two (maybe the original character models? Anyway as long as the story, script (un-engrishised) and game mechanics stay the same, then the remake would be ok in my book. I was once asked what was wrong with the original, and honestly I can say nothing apart from that damn starfield at the end of the game, christ sake, do you know how LONG I waited for it to return to title screen?!? Besides that I can say that the original game is still playable still just as epic, and still just as enjoyable. However looking at all the remakes of games in the past: Resident Evil (Gamecube), Tomb Raider: Anniversary (PSP, PS2, 360) and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (Gamecube) have not dissapointed. They add to the game rather than take away (allthough the bullet time was a little overused in the MGS remake) from the original, giving you a chance to play again down memory lane with a few added parts and updated visuals. So if these three remakes can be near enough perfect (despite the inevitable glitches here and there). These remakes give me hope for any other remakes (of games) in the future.

Tis a shame movies don't have the same rule.

From Top to Bottom: Resident Evil (Nintendo Gamecube), Tomb Raider Anniversary (PSP, PS2, 360), Metal gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (Nintendo Gamecube)

Terminator: Salvation

So looking at Terminator Salvation. My first impression is "Great Concept: Bad Movie"

Ok so the movie is set in 2018; 11 years before the Kyle Reese is sent back in time to save Sarah Connor in the first movie. The plot revolves around John Connor and Kyle, and a Terminator which they salvage to fight on their side etc etc... Having a movie set within the War against the machines is a great concept, however it's a shame that it has to be the 4th in the instalment.

Lets just put it this way: The 3rd movie wasn't exactly the best in the world, so why trust a 4th. Especially when Christian Bale (playing Connor) has signed up for a potential 2 more sequels. I mean; this is turning into the fucking Nightmare on Elm Street movies of the 80's, fuck sake, WE DON’T WANT SIX TERMINATOR FILMS!!!!! Especially after the horrid Sarah Connor Chronicles which takes place in an alternate timeline, Jeez....

Lots of people on the Internet ask me why I think this is going to be a bad movie "especially when Christian Bale is going to be in it"

Ok, first of all, it doesn't matter WHO is in the film, if the script and director are bad, then the movie will be BAD. Lets look at who's directing this?

McG...yes he brought us masterpieces such as Charlie’s Angels 1 and 2, AND Pussycat Dolls: The Search for the New Doll....Yeah, ok, we're boned. However I have started reading HIS blog, and he kind of re-assures me in an uneasy way, that he understands what problems the fans had with the third movie, and the fact that this movie is also a PG-13. He has however been working closely with Jim Cameron, and did have Stan Winston working on the physical effects until he sadly passed away the other day (R.I.P).

So yeah, the future isn't bright when it comes to Terminator 4, however it isn't officially the 4th instalment because it doesn’t say T4: Salvation. Thus we can treat this as a start of a new chapter within the series? Yeah right, what a load of bullshit....

Resident Evil 5

Ok, you might have to call me a Resident Evil fanboy; because despite Konami providing us with a scarier Survival horror; Silent Hill. I still love Resident Evil more, it gave us the basis of all the Survival Horror's we have now, and it has Zombies!

Anyway lets start my first impression on the anticipated RESIDENT EVIL 5.

Ok let me state; I loved Resident Evil 4. It was a great game, the mechanics of the gameplay were great, and the game itself to play was fun and exciting. However there were some complaints which I had....It wasn't a Resident Evil game!

1) It was too action orientated, to me this ruined the atmosphere. Take a look at Resident Evil for the gamecube, that my friend is the scariest Zombie based game ever created, if you don't owna Wii, or can't afford one, find a Gamecube on sale for £10 at CEX and buy the game with it, you will not be disappointed. However RE4 was changed, I very rarely ran out of bullets and after 4 playthroughs or so I could complete the game with a knife inc most boss battles.

2) The enemies; No I agree Capcom needed to change the enemies; Zombies were getting boring and stale, we needed a newer enemy. the trouble was that after a while you realised that the enemy charges at you and then STOPS five yards away and then continues to walk toward you slowly it gives you time to take aim and fire before they reach you.

3) The Plot, ok so now the dodgy Engrish has been replaced by cheesy americanisms. Leon S Kennedy now seems like he thinks he's John McClaine, in which John McClaine would beat the shit out of Leon, while Solid Snake would be analy raping him, and Jack Baur would be orally raping him. Yeah...Ok not a good image... Anyway it also pissed me off that the whole file system was fucked over. In the previous Resident Evil games you found letters and diaries of the citizens and Umbrella scientists of Raccoon City, which were very chilling. Now we have the most retarded bad guy letting you know what is up ahead of you so you can prepare....Fucktards

Ok; so now I've stated what I'd like to see change in RE5 I'd like to start with my first impressions of the first Teaser Trailer leading up to the latest videos from E3'08.

So when I saw the first trailer I was impressed by the detail of the graphics; Evry hair on Chris Redfield's chin were individually rendered, the graphics looked smooth. The atmosphere seemed tenser, and the new enemies seemed faster and more zombie like.

First of all I’d just like to have a small note here that Chris Redfield was not announced yet; but it was obvious, anyone who thought it was Billy or Carlos were retards.

Anyway I had good vibrations running through me, however things were about to change when the gameplay trailer came out.

Ok so the next impression I got was: Haven’t I played this game before? Oh wait yes, RE4!!
So the game seems now to be a cosmetic overhaul of Resident Evil 4. The game is action orientated, with no real indication of any of the tension in the previous game, it seems like they have added a few new moves to the protagonist, and although I can’t really get much of a feel for the enemies at this point, but they seemed pretty much like Las Plagas, even though they have stated it wasn’t. So I can guess from here that the plot wont be much difference in quality.

Ok so we move on a few previews later to the Gametrailer’s exclusive trailer (before E3). Ok this changed my mind slightly, I defiantly saw more of the dark areas, and how you could perceive it as dark, and dingy, and scary. The plot kinda seemed more solid, and hooray not just a dull cow-eyed meathead to play! The plot seems more solid, however the return of the chainsaw guy just made me loose hope again, I mean first they repeat basically the same gameplay as RE4, and now the enemies?!?

Ok so then E3 happened…. Ok first the trailer was uploaded, this was quite exciting as parts of it reminded me of the classic resident evils, such as the truck coming across dead bodies. However there is a glimpse of El Gigante, which is even more annoying. Why the fuck would they recycle bosses?!? Why?!? Also the enemies definitely represent Las Plagas infected, in they way they walk. This is further confirmed later within the gameplay demos, which might I say SUCK, it’s just better cosmetics. If I got a facelift wouldn’t I still be the same person even if I looked prettier? What the FUCK man, what the fuck….

Anyway my first impressions of Resident Evil 5? Well I’ll give a report on the good and the bad.

THE GOOD:

- The Graphics look pretty.
- The on-line co-op mode seems pretty cool!
- The good elements of RE4’s gameplay have been transferred, with a few nifty moves!
- Sherry Birkin looks bad-ass in that cloak.
- Some Boss battles look immense!
- Explanation into the P-Virus
- The atmosphere in the dark MAY look like it could deliver some chilling parts however….

THE BAD:

- … I doubt it, especially when…
- …The A.I of the enemies act exactly the same, everything including the animations are the same, which makes the enemies boring, and easier to take care of.
- The gameplay has not evolved as much as I’d like to to. RE4 was such a large step, I just don’t want to see a copy, then again, I really need to play to see the difference.
- I don’t like Chris; give me a new original feel like RE2 gave me.
- The mad-scientist at the beginning of that trailer puts me off the story, and makes me think it’s going to be cheesy Americanisms again, instead of good solid storylines.
- Recycled enemies, recycled everything, recycling isn’t always a good thing.

So yes, even though I’m a Resident Evil fanboy, I still have the critical edge to currently hate the game. However I’ll need to buy it to experience if it’s good or not. You never know I might change my mind!
