Resident Evil: Degeneration Review

So I finally watched Degeneration last week. So what did I think of it you may be wondering?

Well I have mixed feelings. The story isn't so hot for anyone looking for more than what Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children gave us. It's pretty much a movie for fans and fans only. Anyone else watching this who isn't a zombie movie fan or a Resident Evil fan will be thoroughly disappointing (yet you may be one of these retards who hates the games yet loves the Resident Evil movies). The storyline takes some new locations for a Zombie outbreak to occur, but unleashes all the clichés in a zombie and action genre. There isn't any twists that you can't guess from the beggining, there are no mind breaking moments such as in the game Metal Gear Solid 4 (or should I call it Epic Gear Solid 4?!), there's just Zombies, monsters, more of your favourite characters from the game.

From a Resident Evil fan I felt that the story was good, and added texture to the previous games, and let us into what's been going on with the world since 1998 to 2005 in RE's universe, it even sets up RE5 set 3 years after Degeneration and 2 years after Jill Valentine's 'death.' It explains all about what company has taken over Umbrella, and how the public are still not completely aware of what the T-Virus was. It also has a very bold, and intersting move that I can say I'm very excited about, which means a certain virus now has a vaccine, and another virus makes a comeback (which is awesome to see in in glorious new visuals. Altogether I definately recomend a fan see this movie, and if you are into zobie flicks this is definately worth a rental, or borrowing it of a Resident Evil fan.

Other things to point out is that the graphics on this film can either be spectacular, or horrible, especially the lipsyncing. Especially that the fact that the movie was recorded in English in the first palce, it means there should be NO problems with the lip movements. Alas however the characters look like badly dubbed anime characters.
Another thing as I mentioned is that some of the graphics are sub-par to Resident Evil 5 in places which says a lot.

Altogether if you are not a Resident Evil or Zombie movie fan stay away from this film at all costs, it'll just give you a headache, and will probably bore you. However if you are a fan of Zombie films or Resident Evil (or both) than this could be a worthwhile renatl or even a worthwhile addition to your DVD/BluRay collection.

Non Zombie people - 3/10

Zombie People - 6.5/120

Resident Evil fans - Anywhere between 7.5 and 8.7/10
